Airport Website Hosting, Support and Accessibility

A website isn’t finished when it launches. It needs patching, watching, backing up, fixing and checking for accessibility every week it’s online. One annual platform fee per site covers all of it, with no per-user fees and no pile of licenses to keep track of. When you need something, you call one team.

99.99% uptime

That’s about four minutes of downtime in a month. Every site we host runs on WP Engine’s enterprise infrastructure on AWS, Google Cloud or Azure, backed by a 99.99% uptime SLA, with service credits available.

What the platform fee covers

Enterprise hosting

WP Engine’s enterprise platform, with high-availability failover for airports that need it. Edge caching, a global CDN and smart routing keep pages fast on a phone at the curb. Choose a dedicated environment or one shared with other airport sites.

Security

Protection at the network edge, on the hosting platform and inside your site, watched around the clock. Security, layer by layer.

Updates and backups

WordPress, theme and plugin updates are tested on staging before they go live. Daily backups from two separate providers mean a quick recovery if anything goes wrong, and a monthly report shows everything we did.

Technical support

Most tickets are handled the same day, usually within the hour, and critical issues get 24/7 support. Your tickets go to the designers and developers who built your site, and you can submit and track them from inside your site’s admin.

Title II accessibility upkeep

Continuous automated WCAG scans, regular manual testing and code-level fixes when something slips. PDFs are checked as they’re uploaded, editors get accessibility checks before they publish, and we train your staff. Every site gets a certificate of conformance, and a VPAT is available on request. We fix accessibility in the code itself. We don’t use overlays.

Privacy compliance

Your privacy policy, terms of use and cookie consent stay current as state, federal and European privacy laws change.

Software licenses

The premium software your site runs on is part of the fee. There are no per-user or per-editor charges, so give everyone who needs access a login.

Content help

Your plan includes monthly hours for content updates and small changes. Some airports have us post every alert, news story and board agenda. Others only call when a big page needs a refresh.

Security, layer by layer

Airports are public agencies with public-facing websites, and they get probed like it. Every site we host is protected in three places.

Travelers

At the edge

WP Engine Global Edge Security

Cloudflare’s enterprise network

  • Managed web application firewall
  • DDoS protection
  • Bot management
  • Global CDN and edge caching
  • Managed SSL certificates

The platform

WP Engine enterprise hosting

on AWS, Google Cloud or Azure

  • SOC 2 Type II audited, ISO/IEC 27001 certified
  • Production, staging and development for every site
  • Daily backups
  • High-availability failover when you need it

Your site

Foxtrot on WordPress

built and run by Aviatrix

  • Hardened, with few plugins
  • Roles and single sign-on
  • Accessibility checks before publishing
  • Owned by your airport

Watching around the clock

Some come with every site we host; others are options for dedicated environments. Your proposal spells out which your plan includes.

  • Smart Plugin Manager Plugin and theme updates run automatically, with a backup first. Your key pages are compared before and after, and the update is rolled back if anything breaks.
  • Site Monitoring Uptime checks on your site, with alerts to our team when it stops answering.
  • New Relic APM Performance monitoring that shows which page, plugin or database query is slowing a site down.
  • Aviatrix support Most tickets handled the same day, usually within the hour, and critical issues 24/7.

At the edge, before traffic reaches your site

WP Engine’s Global Edge Security runs on Cloudflare’s enterprise network and is managed around the clock by WP Engine’s security team.

  • Managed web application firewall with WordPress-specific rules, updated continuously as new threats appear.
  • DDoS protection at the network and application layers, stopped at the edge so an attack never reaches your server.
  • Bot management that tells travelers, search engines and legitimate bots apart from scrapers and password-guessing attacks, and can block traffic by category or country.
  • “Under Attack” mode, a one-click switch that tightens every defense during an active attack.
  • Managed SSL certificates, so every page is served over an encrypted connection.

On the hosting platform

  • WP Engine’s platform is SOC 2 Type II audited and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified.
  • Separate production, staging and development environments for every site, so changes are tested before they’re live.
  • Daily backups from two separate providers, so recovery doesn’t depend on one company.

Inside your site

  • Daily patching of WordPress, your theme and plugins, tested on staging first.
  • Fewer ways in. We avoid page builders and keep plugins to a minimum, then add our own hardening and custom security headers.
  • The right access for each person. Role-based permissions, single sign-on for your team’s logins, and Airport Admins who can manage users but can’t hand out administrator rights.
  • Constant watch. Threat and uptime monitoring around the clock, with alerts to our team.

Sized to your airport

Every plan includes everything above. What changes from airport to airport is scale: shared or dedicated hosting, failover, monthly support hours and how much content help you’d like. We’ll recommend the right fit in your proposal.

Yours to keep

Your site runs on Foxtrot, our airport tools on top of WordPress, and your airport owns it: the domain, the content, the files and the accounts. If you ever decide to move on, we hand everything over and your site keeps working. There’s no license to buy back and no proprietary code to rebuild.

Ready for your IT and procurement review

Most airport IT teams have their own security questionnaire, and we’re used to filling them out. If yours doesn’t, we’ll send our technical packet. Either way, we can cover:

  • hosting architecture and failover options
  • uptime SLA and support response times
  • security controls, patching, backups and restore
  • single sign-on setup
  • accessibility: certificate of conformance and VPAT
  • privacy and data handling, including the AI chat assistant
  • data ownership and what happens if you leave

Hosting and Support: Common Questions

Enterprise hosting, security monitoring and patching, WordPress and plugin updates, daily backups, technical support, Title II accessibility upkeep, privacy compliance and the software licenses your site runs on. Your plan also includes monthly hours for content updates. It’s one annual fee per site, with no per-user charges, so you’re not tracking a list of licenses or surprise invoices for routine upkeep.

No. Give a login to everyone on your team who needs one. Foxtrot’s roles control what each person can do, from drafting news to publishing emergency alerts, so access is set by the job, not by a seat count.

About four minutes of downtime in a month. Every site we host runs on WP Engine’s enterprise infrastructure on AWS, Google Cloud or Azure, backed by a 99.99% uptime SLA, with service credits available. Airports that need more can add high-availability failover, and every site is monitored around the clock.

WCAG 2.1 AA is the standard in the DOJ’s ADA Title II rule, and our sites are built and tested to it. In most cases we design to WCAG 2.2 AA as well. Your plan keeps them there with continuous automated scans, regular manual testing, code-level fixes, PDF checks on upload and editor training. Every site gets a certificate of conformance. Deadlines are April 26, 2027 for entities serving 50,000 or more, and April 26, 2028 for smaller entities.

Your airport owns its website: the domain, content, files and accounts. Foxtrot is built on WordPress, so there’s no proprietary system to replace. We hand everything over, and any WordPress team can pick it up from there. You won’t lose your site, and you won’t owe a license fee to keep it.
